SPOKANE PUBLIC SCHOOLS Request for Proposal No. 8-1314 NEWTECH SKILLS CENTER PHASE I - NEW ADDITION Submittal Deadline: September 18, 2013 Spokane Public Schools is requesting proposals for the General Contractor/Construction Manager for the NEWTECH Skills Center, Phase I - New Addition using the procedure permitted under Chapter 39.10 of the RCW, as amended, for selected school projects for public works contracting in lieu of sealed bids. The project consists of a 40,000 square feet, 2 story addition, to the existing Spokane Skills Center located at 4141 N. Regal Road. The new addition is planned for the south end of the existing facility in an area currently occupied by a parking lot. The school will be occupied and operating during construction. Construction is scheduled to start in the spring of 2014 and be completed for the start of the 2015/2016 school year. Design phase activities include involvement of General Contractor/Construction Manager to: (1) assist in development of schedules, cost estimates, value analysis, quality and phasing the work effort well before construction can start and provide added assurance that the ADDITION PROJECT will be completed on time, and (2) be involved in the design stage of the project to provide services to address constructability, sub-bid contracting strategies, site constraints, and occupied campus safety, health and operational issues. The Request for Proposal outlines the information necessary to understand this selection process and the documentation required for submitting proposals. Proposals must be received by Spokane Public Schools Purchasing Office, 2815 East Garland Ave., Spokane, WA 99207, no later than 4:00:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 18, 2013. The RFP number and submittal date must appear on the outside of all proposals submitted. Any firm failing to submit its proposal in accordance with the procedures set forth in the Request for Proposal may be considered non-responsive.
